Join us for the Appalachian Festival Capstone Concert featuring Appalatin at the Frostburg Palace Theatre on Saturday, September 21 at 7:30 PM. Travel to the live music performance on our historic railroad! Depart from Cumberland Station to our depot in Frostburg where you will be shuttled to the Frostburg Palace Theatre. After the show, passengers will be shuttled back to Frostburg Depot and can return down the mountain on our train to Cumberland.

As you embark on our train journey, immerse yourself in the elegant ambience of our two newly introduced Lounge Cars, the “Good Vibrations” and the “Frostburg Lounge”. Indulge in a selection of delectable hors d'oeuvres and savor the full range of drinks and cocktails from our onboard bar service, all while luxuriating in style as you travel to and from Frostburg.

Appalachian Roots Music Meets Latin Folk Traditions 

“Appalatin have reinvented traditional Appalachian music by infusing Latin rhythm and song into the rural folk form. It’s a surprisingly seductive blend of bluegrass bolero and countrified cumbia.” (NUVO) 

Appalatin’s foot-stomping, hip-swinging sound unites Appalachian folk and high-energy Latin music. The name, Appalatin, reflects the unexpected meeting of Kentucky-raised musicians and masterful Central American and Andean émigrés. Their all-acoustic performances feature traditional guitar, mandolin and upright bass merged with charango, indigenous Andean flutes, hand percussion, harmonica and vocal harmonies, bringing pure joy to listeners of all ages. 

CES unites with Frostburg State University’s National Public Radio affiliate station WFWM-FM. Immediately following the performance, WFWM-FM station director Chuck Dicken joins the artists for a lively, interactive discussion with audience members.
