Join us for a scenic ride across the Allegany winter landscape.
Experience the breathtaking beauty of Maryland mountains this winter by joining the Allegheny Winter Express conducted by the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. The train journey starts from Cumberland, Maryland, and promises to offer some of the most spectacular views of the region as you climb to Frostburg. The trip comes in two classes of service, Lounge Class and Coach Class. All seats are reserved, and the cars are climate-controlled, with restrooms on board. So take your pick and enjoy the winter mountain scenery in comfort and style!

Indulge in a scrumptious, freshly prepared meal during your journey to Frostburg on our Winter Service trains. Our head chef and onboard staff will cook it on board, offering a variety of options such as a complete breakfast, fresh fruits, soups, salads, and hot and cold sandwiches. Craving a mimosa with your breakfast? We have a full-service bar aboard our Winter Service trains where you can enjoy adult beverages if you are 21 or older.

Boarding begins approximately 30 minutes prior to departure. The 1:00 PM excursion includes a layover in Frostburg before returning to Cumberland.

Terms and Conditions
Ticket purchases are fully refundable up to two weeks before your excursion date. You can get in-house credit within two weeks but no refunds or credits will be given for day of cancellations or missed trains. If you cannot keep your original excursion date, an in-house credit will be held for a future excursion. The in-house credit will not expire.
Once you arrive you will receive boarding instructions. We ask that all guests arrive 45 minutes prior to departure.
All seating is assigned.
No outside alcohol is permitted.
No smoking or vaping is permitted.
We only allow service animals onboard our trains.
Western Maryland Scenic Railroad makes every effort to maintain its schedule. Due to mechanical and safety needs, we reserve the right to change equipment, locomotive, and passenger cars at any time.

ADA Needs
Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of our equipment, our train is not ADA accessible. Wheelchairs can only be accommodated in Standard Coach. Mobility assistance devices can’t be brought aboard our trains. Contact our ticketing office to discuss your needs.
